In October 2023, we began with the removal of the 2 largest tanks of the contract. The project was challenging because of the conditions and tank specifications. The biggest tanks have a specification of a diameter of 77.7 meters, 22.25 m heigh, which translates to a capacity of 100,000 m³ per tank.
Because of the thickness of the lowest section of the tankwall we completed the demolition successfully with machinal and hot work.
The other remaining tanks belonging to the scope of work consist of tanks with fixed and floating roofs and are built in less challenging conditions and specifications. These tanks were cut and demolished with a mechanical demolition approach and use of a dedicated shear and UHD demolition excavators.
